I haven't really played Pokemon since Gold/Silver/Crystal but I'd like to get into it again. Six years ago I would play it on my ex-gf's DS and was putting together a team so I could start taking a children's game sort of seriously. What's the best way to get into competitive though, and is there any money in it? Seems autistically fun and since I have asperger's that'll probably help.

not a lot of money in competitive, unfortunately. VGC gives some scholarships as prizes, but only at the very top levels. Regionals and Nationals usually give some merch (often including a new 3DS) which you could sell, but usually that's only for first or second place. For getting into competitive, you first have to decide whether you want to go official format (VGC) or one of the community formats (smogon's various tiers being the biggest).

Well, Smeargle can learn all of those moves via Sketch
So all you'd have to do is breed for the right IVs and Nature on a Smeargle, have some Pokemon who know those moves and then use them in Double Battles so the Smeargle can learn said moves

Yeah. Go to the Restaurant Le Nah or whatever the really low level one is called and slap a Lagging Tail onto your Smeargle, have the Pokemon whose move you want Smeargle to learn use that move and have Smeargle Sketch it.

Nah, it would have only let it last longer. That battle was just a huge uphill battle for me, only pokes capable of sweeping were the Medicham and possibly the Porygon. I need better pokes in there, but haven't had any ideas. I love the Liepard lead though

I'm a pretty much of the karen school. Use the mons you want to because you like them. That's the best way to learn their greatest viability and it helps provide perspective for ways to use more viable mons. I've honestly never faced a liepard before. It's model is pretty sleak and it's supportive characteristics have it as one of the most viable pokemon in vgc right now. I'm sure you'll determine the right team to field around it. Your favorite, fake out, is a very helpful move anyways.
