What was your team? As someone who dislikes Unova for the most part, I'm curious who you brought aboard.
Gen V is the definite Pokemon experience. Anyone who says it's bad has either never played it in full, doesn't know what they want or is just delusional. Honestly, if you like ANY Gen before Gen V, how can you not like Gen V? It does everything a Pokemon game is supposed to do, without tearing it down to the minimal (Gen VI).
>inb4 the story is shit
No it's not you fucking retard. First of all, this is mainline Pokemon, aka plot depth of a kiddy pool. Compared to all the rest, Gen V's story is the best. It's not just a fleeting experience like Gen I and II. It's not the same recycled cliche shit like Gen III and Gen IV. And it's not M-MUH 3000 YEARS like Gen VI. It also has the added bonus of being the only gen with completely direct sequels, making it deliver the most plot and character development we've seen in this series. So stop comparing it to your imaginary perfect Gen that doesn't exist.
>inb4 the pokemon designs suck
old meme, it's not 2012 anymore. everyone likes the majority of Gen V's designs, unless you're a stupid fucking nostalgiafag.
>inb4 too easy
I bet you stopped playing after the first gym before realizing Gen V is the only Gen with an actual difficulty setting
And do I even need to mention the blessings that are the battle subway and world tournament? Gen V had the best new features, best story, best characters, best design, all while staying true to the Pokemon formula. It's as good as it gets.

And you say people putting other games above it are delusional?

Also best villian.
Absolutely no one in the Pokemon Universe (So far) is any where close to how dangerous Ghetsis was.
My one complaint of Gen V was Pokemon Musicals.
What the fuck was the point?
>>25840596
>>25840606
No. I'm saying if you think Gen V's designs suck without any solid reason not any other gens, you're retarded

I didn't like how the entire region was just gates. Every area was closed off by gates. It felt like a very secluded region. That didn't make much sense geographically wise either

I liked Ghetsis because he seemed so real as a villain.
Like, he didn't want some stupid, over the top, Pokemon related power. He saw Pokemon as useless pieces of garbage. Like he was a real life human from our world, inside a Pokemon game. He treated them as silly, exploitable wastes of time. I know Giovanni had a similar premise, but he still had a strong connection to Pokemon deep inside.
Ghetsis was a dangerous, angry maniac who just wanted the world in his fist. No other villain has had a goal more believable than Ghetsis. And honestly, if the Pokemon were a more realistic world, there would be a LOT of people who would see the incredible destructive power of Pokemon, and think "Man, I could literally use these guys to rule the planet''

Have you ever been to a metropolitan area? Unova is very artificial on purpose.

I believe 80% of Gen 5's dex is quality. Also gave me what has become my current number one favorite Pokemon. Before that was Tyranitar, but the instant I saw this hydra I knew I had a new favorite.

I used mons I hadn't used before for this run, so not really favourites. It's always nice making new bros though.
In this case, I didn't expect Musharna to be such a bro. Whimsicott and Galvantula are awesome too.
>>25840677
This.
All the characters in Gen V are so believable and well developed. I love them.
>>25840559
I'm a unovabortion to the core, but no need to get defensive preemptively. This is a thread for good feels!
>>25841095
This doesn't just apply to the main villain, either.
I know I might be looking into things a bit here, but just look at Bianca and her father. While in most games going out on a Pokemon journey at the age of 11 is ''normal'', Bianca's father considers it a crazy thing to do - even for a 14 year old.
And then there's the actual protagonists. While in most Pokemon games, any little girl in a skirt and sneakers could go out into the wilderness and battle beasts, Hilda's daring expression and bold clothing implies that it actually takes a lot of guts to be a Pokemon Trainer, and that it isn't exactly normal for teens to do.
>>25840778
That's stupid. Gen 6 is an entirely new engine made from scratch. Also that doesn't really excuse anything. It's more likely just them not trying anymore.
>>25840490
And introduced the single greatest bug poke since Heracross
>>25841120
I will never understand the people that hate trubbish, Gabador I get, because it can get a little too trashy, but Trubbish is literal trash, and yet it's an incredibly happy go lucky little bastard.
>>25841324
The older protagonists is one of the best new ideas GF has ever implemented in pokemon
>>25840490
Then gen VI killed it again
I really like Gen V story. Even if it is paper thin.
Let me elaborate.
As I kid I always loved the pokes, being a fan of bugs, monsters and creatures myself, so the concept of collecting these things had massive appeal to me as a youngster
But growing up you start to wonder "isn't this basically slavery? pitting creatures against other creatures you collected for the sake of glory?" Yeah is just a game and I shouldn't take this shit too seriously but playing the games I've always had the thought at the back of my head
Gen V touches on the issue, and creates an evil team who -initially at least- is concerned about this too. The resolution is not satisfactory nor the plot develops enough to resolve the ethics behind monster collectan but AT LEAST the developers addressed it. They know there are people out here who wonders the same, and there are even people in the pokemon world who thinks this too. This to me is huge f a m, even if at the end [spoilers]everyone kept their pokes and monsters and humans help each other achieve greatness and all the sappy kid friendly shit stayed[/spoilers], they decided to touch slightly, even if it was on surface level what possible conflicts might exist in this universe.
I haven't played BW2, but I hope they developed this further. Should be buying it in a couple of weeks.
What do you think?
Why are the protagonists so great?
in like 10 years when we have gen 5 remake i will cry and play it over and over and over again
