It was always the least offensive gen 5 starter to me. I don't mind the drastic change since I hated its prevos anyway.
Its both my favorite starter and water type. And people who hate it for being a Dewott evolution really need to fuck themselves.
It REALLY isn't that bad if look at the progression of the seashells and not the animal change. Samurott's Seamitars are probably 3 times stronger than a Scalchop as Dewott normally fights with two Scalchops.
I think it's not particularly bad or good. Well it is good but there's about 300 better Pokemon

I like it's pre evo's. And they are the only gen 5 starters I like.

I didn't say the seashells where it's only redeeming qualities. It also has a well executed whisker-beard-mustache combo. With it's noticeable beard highlighting years of warrior expericence. Pretty nice touch.
The only thing people find off that the body structure became pinniped-like(the animal change I implied earlier) but everything else seems pretty soild.
