Venusaur is my bro and probably my favorite grass type. Sceptile is okay, tied for best Hoenn starter with Swampert. Serperior, I like the design but it's the pokemon that got fucked over hard because of its hidden ability both movepool wise and stats wise. Rip.

Also, I really dislike the hands, but I think I even dislike the white and egg coloring. They just aren't distinct enough, especially when you give both the legs and the arms the same kind of lines going through them. Greninja has the same problem for me. I wish both of them were either white or egg colored, instead of having both colors in one design.

Really bizarre/unnatural/stiff posing for both their model and the official art, the shell feels too paper thin rather than like armor, I'm not a fan of the color scheme (yes I know what it's based on, no I still don't like it) that the shiny version rectifies significantly, don't really like the hairy chest stripe either, and it could have done a bit more with the "knight" theme.
I don't like how the arms just stick out.

I love the Gen VI finals, but i still think that Gen IV has the overall best Final Stage starters, which says a lot, because i dislike nearly all their base forms.
Gen VI's Finals could've probably won me over if Delphox and Chesnaught didn't have such horribly stiff and bland models. The Ref sheets of all three of them are very expressive and dynamic, i would just like to see that expressiveness in the models. Only Greninja managed to get it right, but maybe in the future the others will get their due.

I like Chesnaught. In the early X/Y metagame he was a really good answer to Mega-Gengar, Aegislash, and a few other things which were scary at the time but don't see any usage anymore for various reasons. Plus, I think Chespin and Quilladin look fucking awful so I wasn't at all disappointed by the sudden shift in appearance.

I don't think the official art or game model really does his design scheme any justice. He's cool, but the way he's presented feels like it falls relatively flat. Like you could get a sense of what they were going for with his face, but they couldn't really pull off a proper stern expression with the style they used.
In that sense, you kind of need to apply some imagination to really bring his design to life, so-to-speak.

I agree with you. Theme wise they're perfect and bounce off each other pretty well, there's a reason that there's a fuckton of art with them. I think it's the one gen where I like the starters more than any other mon introduced. Their designs could have slight improvements imo ( Delphox could look less awkward standing, Chesnaught has bad colours, Greninja is solid but Frogadier tops it I'm not a fan of the thing on it's head ) but I was really pleasantly surprised when they were revealed.
