I actually really fucking love these designs. Not for the typical reasons though.
These don't look like Mega Evolutions of the Legendary Birds, these look like what the Legendary Birds would appear as if they had debuted in a later gen. M-Zapdos especially. I mean jesus, nothing about that design looks remotely like Zapdos, and yet it works. Same with M-Moltres. M-Articuno is the only one here who actually looks like a Mega, and even then it's a stretch.
If these Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres had appeared as the region trio for Unova instead of those fucking genies, I would be a happier man.

They're actually rather appealing designs and would be good evolutions for the birds it's just that they don't have much in common with the base forms unlike most megas and could even be different Pokemon so they don't really work and they don't work as evolutions because >evolving legends.
