It took me roughly two hours each to catch the Regis when I was longer, but I've spent much more time breeding. I think the longest I've bred was with four chains in three months to get a perfect Charmander with some breeding moves in X.
I did that for a male Ralts in Y and it literally took me an hour.
Did the same in OR and it took me 30 minutes. I just found out I can't evolve Kirlia into Gallade until I get to Victory Road. FUCK.
Three whole days searching for a Chimecho on Sapphire. Fucking 1% appearance rate, took me less time to find Feebas.

You've got to fully train a pokemon, which takes about a half hour, which unlocks the secret training. Then most of those give you evo stones every so often
