Someone made a post about being stranded on a deserted island and I thought that would make for a pretty cool region in itself and would explain how no one had seen the Pokemon before and all that jazz

There's something special about looking out over the Pacific.
The Atlantic, you always have the sense of something being over the horizon. The Pacific though, feels like looking out to the end of the world. Even though you know the world is round, it looks like it goes on forever to an edge from the coast of Washington.

Texas, of course. Everything is better with Texas. We even got different biomes you could check out. The piney woods, great plains, the Gulf of Mexico. Pretty sure we got a desert too. So... A lot? You won't hear very many conversations about Canada without America being thrown around somewhere, whether it has to do with politics or bowling.
You're on the same island, share a part of the name, used to be the same country. Northern Ireland and the Republic of are closer than Germany is to France and Canada is to America.
Plus it would make for a good story finding out why, in the Pokemon world, these two countries exist and what their relationship is to each other. Maybe more Pokemon war story?
I'd really like a Holland region. Windmills, open fields, you could have an entire degeneracy with Amsterdamn being the new Team's base.

Beautiful and tropical, filled with ancient temples and modern cities. Kuala Lumpur could be one city divided in two, with the crossing point being between the bridge between those two big towers

Two things to note about the english countryside.
Firstly, it's generally divided into two. You've got the trimmed and neat agricultural countryside of the south, IE Oxfordshire. That's the bumpy mounds with hedgerows you see on biscuit tins. Then you've got the actual wilds that are mostly in Scotland and Wales - mountains, moorland, long grass and swamps. One is manmade as fuck, the other is 'natural'.
Secondly, The Shire is the former of those.
And there's fucking tonnes of shit inspired by it.

It's almost perfect. California has some of the most diverse landscapes and highest quantity of biomes in the US. There's snowy mountains, deserts, vast plains, beaches, valleys, islands, forests in the north, farmland, large cities, iconic landmarks. Say what you want about the people in California, but for a Pokemon region it has everything you'd need, just like Hawaii.
