No, the point of Mamo was for the triple Dragonite who hit hard and 4x resist Grass. Meganium can handle Gyarados. A Water type can handle Aerodactyl and Charizard, although Aero has Thunder Fang.

I've used Meganium and it was fine. While it doesn't hit hard, it has decent bulk in-game. This was the playthrough that I decided to not grind at all, so I ended up being underlevelled. I still managed to beat the game, Lance and Red were the only trainers that were slightly difficult.

I didn't grind all those hours, but i will admit it was hard. The amount is the result of dozens of episodes where i play while watching TV or some other shit. When the plot gets good or i get distracted my DS gets ignored and left on for several hours.

They aren't hard in the slightest, probably the easiest E4 by a mile, which says a fucking lot considering Torterra and Luxray EQ/Crunch Shenaningans rips through the Sinnoh E4.
OP is completely fine with a Meganium by that point, it's what I started with as a kid and had no problems whatsoever.

Fire Blast was a big risk, but if you evolve your rock type will take it. Since you are slower as a rock type you can hold Wide Lens for 20% acc boost which turns Stone Miss into Stone Edge. This kills the crab. Both of them, since Aero has fucking nothing against it.

Just the same as I don't see why people want more than one region in a game or all of the regions together. The levels would be beyond fucked so hard that they'd have to increase it beyond 100 with all the regions. Going back to Kanto was a neat thing for Gen 2, but it's terribly flawed.

Chikorita sucks ass, but at least in HGSS it got a expanded moveset with Petal Dance and dual screens. Get Spearow/Pidgey, a Slowpoke from the well, and a Tauros so you can handle the first 4 gyms. After get a Houndour and you'll live. Grind Chikorita.
