Granted, I fucking loved Emerald to bits, but it's Gen 3's only real achievement, and in my opinion, Emerald really isn't anywhere near HG/SS (which as a Gen 4 game, is stuck in 3rd place)

I'd say gen 6 is the best in that it has the best online interactivity, the best Pokemon learnsets, the best breeding mechanics, etc.

Nice, interesting region (it's only real flaw was that you needed 3 water HMs to traverse it). Battle Frontier is probably the most interesting battle facility in the series. Emerald could get pretty challenging at times with the updated teams. Engine was smooth and fast (every game since Diamond/Pearl has been a slower pace and had occasional framedrops). Nice music despite the GBA's shitty soundfont. Then there's also a lot of nostalgia surrounding the game, but every generation has that (except gen 6).

Im autistic about islands and being able to have a cool island fort was the best.
Battle frontier was dope. Even if i sucked at it as a kid. it was a cool place.
I liked that they added gen2 mons after you beat the elitefour.
but i think the best part about gen 3 was that
gen 3 had great starters. past gens had 1 or two good or "cool" starters.
having good starters added re-playability to kids to invest more time in and try out different pokemon teams.
and since the pokemon designs werent bad and access to "cool" pokemon was possible. making those teams was completely reasonable and it make me invest even more time into gen 3. playing and restarting the game later just to make a team with treeco or mudkip, or maybe this run ill use sharpedo or a tropius. the replayability was huge in those games. which just led to time sinks which makes us remember it more than other games.
also it was the first gen to do the updates. so being able to play gen 1 with new graphics was maximum overhype.

Do people like you have ADHD or something? They were tiny little sections of the game, and the snowy route had an amazing atmosphere. I always walk around a little more than I have to so I can listen to that theme.
Also you're forgetting the endgame area, the gauntlet that was the big Mount Coronet climb, and the Underground amongst other things that gave it more multiplayer activities than any other gen.
I understand how Gen4 might not be peoples' favorite, but I'll never understand all these "slow" complaints that always come up most prominently.
Gen4 also had the best meta if that's relevant here. Before weather wars, before RU and PU had to be made, and before Smogon banned anything non-legendary, at least for the most part as Garchomp went to ubers very late in Gen4.

Not that anon, but that's complete bullshit. The only really bad legendaries in Gen 4 were Cresselia and Shaymin (and base Shaymin is fine), meanwhile Gen 5 had the Musketeer Trio with Keldeo, the djinn, and Meloetta.
Gen 5 had fucking awful legendaries beyond Genesect and the Tao Trio, and even then a lot of people hate them solely because of the whole fusion thing.
As for Music, worst music is Gen 3 easily, it's just the same base trumpet noise constantly, no variation in style or deviations whatsoever.

Are you really saying the awfully designed Musketeer Trio and the literal copypasta Djinn are better than the Lake Guardians?
I mean, I will grant they're close enough to copypasta, but they're very Mew/Celebi esque in design, and that far exceeds those two, with the exception of maybe Terrakion.
As for Meloetta, it in no way is better than anything, it's right there along with Keldeo with it's god awful design and aesthetics.
As for the Gen 3 music, the actual song composition and melodies are fantastic the first time you hear them sure, but as the game progresses the beats clearly repeat and loop back into each other even for different songs, I admit they tried their best to overcome this with limited technology but the problem still remains in ORAS and it's stifling from a musician's perspective considering the limitations of the GB/GBC weren't that problematic. Gen 3's shining accomplishment for Music are everything up until you meet Wally roughly, Steven's battle, and mostly Zinnia's theme and some of the new Delta Episode music.

The pokemon designs from Hoenn are still some of my favorites because there's nothing remotely like them. The regi trio is my favorite trio because they actually got the mystical genre because we know nothing about them except how they formed.
