I started with gen 1, skipped gen 2 until late into gen 3, played through gens 3-6 when each of them came out. I've also played most of the spinoffs and I do feel as though a lot of them save certain gens from lower scores.

Pokemon is a shit game series. All your fucking gens suck dick, there's no great story, all of them handhold you on top of no one trainer being a real threat (unless you're an underage), music is all right but mostly gets repetitive, and anime and TCG should never be seriously considered in any conversation, though I see it obviously is on /vp/, where the average age clocks in at a nice 13 years old. For the ones who aren't, it's a springboard for furries and manchildren to write and draw out their vore diaper scat slime expansion futa fantasies and pretend that 10 year old cartoon characters are "wife material".
The ONE sole reason one plays Pokemon is its simplistic yet mutable battle system, which pretty much only comes from competitive and online play seeing as GF can't be bothered to elaborate upon it in the main games ("hurr its for kids hurr its supposed to be easy", fuck you, this mentality is exactly why so many kids are lazy, spoiled, or stupid). And as far as I can see, Gen VI offers the widest variety of options concerning that. This entire thread is pointless unless you really are underage or have those rosy tints on, mostly because none of these factors actually matter when critiquing what makes a decent game.
