So other than Lucario being a normie Mon, I'm curious why people dislike Lucario. I personally grew up liking him in Diamond and Smash. Because of him being my main in Smash, my friends now connect me with Lucario in relation to Pokemon. Within Pokemon itself, yeah I admit it's fun using the Pokemon that get special treatment (ESpeed, Dragon Pulse, mega evolution, Adaptability, list goes on).
Because you were like 6 when Diamond came out and that's about the only reason why you like him

It's actually all in his characterization. He looks wacky, even fun loving from a design perspective to me. Those shorts, those dreadlocks. But then he just acts like a haradass, in every single iteration of his character. And I just can't buy it.
I guess his Mega looks more deserving of his personality, but I'm still not a huge fan of the design.

I personally like it, it has a decent design, cool and unique niche, and is a decent mon overall.
I can see why people hate him though, he is everywhere, like the second coming of pikachu.

I'd probably like it more if it had proper hands instead of paws, the hand spikes were knuckle spikes, and there was a bit of Egyptian influence in the design beyond just being a jackal-headed humanoid. Maybe some sort of crest/headdress looking thing instead of the dreads.
Honestly, I'm just bored by him, and there's nothing worse than having a really boring Pokemon shoved down your throat constantly.

So apparently Gamefreak realized this about their tentative mascot and made him UNAVOIDABLE in Pokemon XY.
Everyone having one is a bit of a cop out and goes against traditional Pokemon thinking. Had Gamefreak followed the principles set out by Gen 1, they would have given the player A CHOICE of what Mega they wanted.
Just like the fossil choice, or the Hitmonchan/Hitmonlee choice.
You should have been able to choose if you wanted Mega Lucario or Mega Scizor. Whoever you didn't pick you would have to fight.
My logic is that their types kinda cancel each other out, so it might have made an interesting battle.

His mega was dragon type because Ampharos was originally going to be Dragon/Electric in Gen 2 but they thought that would be OP having an obtainable dragon so early in the game.
It's a clusterfuck of a pokemon conceptually and aesthetically. Its typing make little sense and obviously serves the purpose of being viable first over sensible lore. It's forced to hell and back and treated as if it were the standard steel or fighting pokemon--hell, as the standard pokemon, period.
As a guy who liked fighting types when they made sense thematically and before they were oversaturated by flashy, niche, must-outdo-previous-species dual-types, it's like an extra insult to injury. Not only is my favorite knocked off of most of its glory as a fighting type poster boy, the champ has also been made to appear as if it was the bad guy to Lucario despite my bro's lore always showing that it's actually helping humans ever since it debuted. But no, this furbait special snowflake is the more "heroic" simply because gamefreak said so.

Lucario is pushed into everything because Game Freak wanted him to be popular and it fucking WORKED. Yeah, he appeared in Smash, but so did fucking Greninja, and he isn't all that popular compared to Pikachu and Lucario. Lucario wouldn't be forced everywhere if it weren't for sheer popularity. You must be pretty fucking dumb to think otherwise.
It's not terrible, the design is okay and it's fun to use, but it's literally everywhere.

Both those things happened after Lucario's popularity has consolidated for many years. Like Lucario, Zoroark had it's own gimmick, it's own movie, and was pushed with two events, and an inclusion as part of B/W2's storyline.

I'm a furfag but I initially hated both Lucario and Riolu. Not sure why, I just did. The line grew on me by the time I finished Diamond, maybe in part because some fan artists illustrated the Pokémon more convincingly, or maybe because I watched that Lucario movie and it wasn't terrible, I dunno.

I've used Lucario in my playthroughs a lot. Loved using him in Pearl and BW2. He doesn't have the best design or sensible typing though. But he's fine. Or would be if GF stopped forcing him down our throats. The fucking statue and freebie M-Lucario in XY... What the fuck? Enough is enough. He might be popular and deserves to be featured but too much is too much. I didn't even use the Lucario because the whole thing was so idiotic.
