No shit. It's on the same exact hardware. It's not like they would have room to improve, especially with XYORAS's fps tanking every 10 seconds. I'd rather they fix that issue than replace all the models and animations and damage the gameplay even further with sub30 fps.
Also of note: Half of Gen V's sprites were the same as Gen IV, just with shitty Flash-tween-tier animation.

You're forgetting that it's the 20th anniversary. That means money, and epic shit, and so on. If GF just gave us Gen 6 mediocre shit, their sales would tank, especially with media and the internet revealing it to us early. Pokémon would die, and GF would go broke. Gen 7 will have better, brand new graphics, because the N3ds can handle it, and because they're GF. They fit 2 regions into GSC by using epic compression methods that were unheard of at the time, I'm sure we'll be blown away by S&M.
