XY isn't the best at everything. DP had a better rivalry and contests, and XY meandered a lot in the beginning while they were figuring out their schedule or whatever. Also I feel characters had more personality and fun in OS.
There is certainly room for improvement in future seasons. The problem is letting go of the current cast, or having to swallow another Ash defeat. And of course whether the production value will extend into the next season.

After Nene's victory over Cal and Elle's victory over Serena in the Master Class, I have determined that Glorio City is full of shitvoters and pleb trash, and have therefore ordered a B-29 carrying a Mark IV Fat Man atomic bomb to be dispatched to detonate its payload over Glorio City in Kalos.
Unfortunately my bomb guy is an idiot and didn't wait until the performers had left the city before he took off. All these performers (with the exceptions of Serena, Millefuei, Shauna and Jessie) are still in the city, and will almost certainly be killed if they are not several miles away in the next 6 minutes.
For a variety of unexplainable reasons, you will only be able to rescue one of these performers before the bomb detonates over Glorio City. Her Pokémon are included.

I just remembered. If the translations of Serena relying too much on her Pokemon is true, then I'll just say that's bullshit. Serena relies on her Pokemon because her Pokemon relies on her. It's a mutual thing, she fucking endured Eevee's shit till the end, and helped Braixen and Pancham make up after the whole stick fiasco. Hell, going through the series, each and everyone of the group rely on each other. Everybody relies on each other to get to where they need to go, sometimes sacrificing shit or sometimes being completely selfless for the sake of the group as a whole.
