>Gen II is on very similar hardware to Gen I
>Gen V is on the same hardware as Gen IV
>Gen VII will be on the same hardware as Gen VI

Literally the only reason I'm hyped for Sun/Moon. They don't have to rush it and get used to new hardware.
>>
>>25759589
Y-you're right!! But it remains to be seen
>>
I think both gen 2 and gen V had a pretty awful region in terms of geographical design.
>>
We'll never get games as good as V's again, OP.
>>
>>25759589
Honestly I fucking loved Gen2 and 5. Yes Unova was this, yes it was that, but I still enjoyed the hell out of it and really dug the idea of an entire region of new Mons. And I for one love the cover legendaries, and feel like they're refreshingly minimalistic after Gen 4.
>>
So it will have good mechanics but a shit region?
>>
>>25759753
>gen 1 + 2
basic region (lets blame hardware) (habitats still made sense)
>gen 3 + 4
great region design thanks to hardware advancements
>gen 5 + 6
random region design > forced diversity (habitats make sense)
>gen 7 + 8

Gen I = GB
Gen II = GBC
Gen III = GBA
Gen IV = DS
Gen V = DSi
Gen VI = 3DS
>>
>>25759815
Hoenn is a diverse, natural region with nice long routes. There are also a ton of shortcuts that make traversing the world interesting. Sinnoh is similar in that regard too. Unova and Kalos are very limited regions in comparison.
>>
>>25759859
What if I don't give a shit about linearity?
>>
>>25759844
And

GBC is incredibly similar to GB
DSi is just a DS with more features
>>
>>25759873
It's not about linearity, it's about making sense from a geographical standpoint
>>

None of the regions make sense in that regard.

Then you're a minority. One of the core aspects of RPGs is exploration. If you have no interest in that then you're better off playing other genres.

I did, and you're wrong.
>>
>>25759976
It was still a huge step down from the previous two generations. BW2 fixed it a little bit, although you still pretty much only went forward throughout the whole game. I'm struggling to remember any optional areas in Unova that weren't locked behind post-game. I know that Kalos at least had Lost Hotel and Terminus Cave.
>>
>>25759977
>I did, and you're wrong.
You haven't said why he's wrong though.
Especially given that Unova is an incredibly industrialized region compared to something like the boonies of Kanto.
>>
>>25760091
>You haven't said why he's wrong though.
Because his statement is false.

>industrialized
Ah yes, that's why the random desert and snowstorms make sense. It's just NSMB all over again, forced diversity that doesn't make any sense. I've said it before. Don't think a common-knowledge recap is a substitute for an argument.
>>
>>25759964
When most people play through a region, the question or concern "This region is geographically incorrect" doesn't come to their mind. Because it's a fucking video game. It isn't meant to be realistic.

Also, if you want to bring up fallacies, yours is a classic strawman.

You do know that applies to literally every pokemon game including and after gen 3 in fact it's more reasonable in gen 5 rather than 3 and 4 due to the fact that both are within the vicinity of a volcano. The reality is that there should be a lush jungle there due to the extremely fertile soil rather than an arid desert.

As for gen 5 you do know that there are several deserts like that in places like America right? It's not exactly uncommon to see a desert like that in fact it's most likely based on the nevada desert given that Nimbasa is obviously meant to be an analog to Vegas.

>snowstorms
You mean the snowstorms that only occur during the winter?
You're right, it totally makes sense for it to be blistering hot during that time of year.

You really need to check over this information before you decide to shitpost.

Okay, name your examples from gen 3 and 4.

Both scientifically and lore-wise is the placement of the desert in Hoenn on purpose and sensible. Groudon's location and it's in-game ability (being the polar opposite of Kyrogre (rain maker) is knowledge publicly avaible.). Here's the map of Hoenn. tell me about it.

It makes sense. Even gen 6 with overclock plays much better than the originals.
>>
>>25759589
This. The only good pokemon games GF have made have come from years of experience with a console. I just wish they had made it N3DS exclusive so we would be guaranteed at least a steady 15 fps this time, but maybe they've finally learned to optimize.
>>
>>25760544
>Okay, name your examples from gen 3 and 4.
I just did you idiot.
The desert literally right next to Chimney and the desert within vicinity of Stark.
Also route 113 isn't treated as a region with very rich soil like an area constantly being covered in ash should, in fact, if anything there should have been the very tall grass in that area instead of the smaller variant. If anything it should have been more reminiscent of route 119 in terms of plant life.
It's more like the volcano sprouted up overnight than it being there all along

Come to think of it the fact that there's no snow or anything of the like on the battle island is extremely ridiculous as it's further north than snowpoint, a city covered in snow due to how far north it is and the region is already a particularly cold region as shown by the snow dotted around the region in Platinum and the protagonist's clothing.

>Groudon's location and it's in-game ability (being the polar opposite of Kyrogre (rain maker) is knowledge publicly avaible.)
None of this has anything to do with the conversation at hand and even if it did it would only explain Hoenn and not Sinnoh.
But just to humor you, Groudon has been dormant for thousands if not millions of years in the middle of the sea the effect of his power on the landscape has long since been repaired. Also it's power has a very limited range of effect outside when it's not in it's primal form seeing as it didn't cover the region.

You really need to really need to think about what you're talking about before you post anon.
Oh and you're the same anon that was saying this shit in that other thread yesterday weren't you? Haven't you been BTFO'd enough?

Never claimed it was. I just can't wade through walls of non-sensible texts and make sense out of it. I'd leave too much up to my own bias due to ambiguity in writing. Which is a wasted chapter I wish to avoid.

That's because the actual trainer count ebbs out in the later part of the game.
That said the replayable trainers didn't change from the first game.

DSi has region lockout for any games that use DSi functionality. This includes Black/White; they'll run fine on any original DS, but a DSi/3DS of a different region will refuse to run them.

Jump Ultimate Stars predates the DSi and doesn't have DSi functionality, so it can run on any system.
