If you're going with the zodiac concept for fire types (which I'm still an advocate for), then there are five others aside from rabbit that it could be (ox, tiger, snake, horse, sheep). What dictates the order? And water bear? It could just as easily be an amphibian, reptile, hell avion or something else for that matter. How would the previous pattern lead to bear? Then with Grass, there could be any number of things. Just making a single mammal doesn't mean it would be a mammal next time for sure.
Regardless of any of this, Gamefreak has shown many times to break its "patterns." I just figured there was actually some proof for these.
