I also sometimes wonder if they hadn't at least considered that. She appeared in the second episode, and was set up as the underdog/junior trainer, and would probably have served a similar role to May had she stayed with them.
Of course the previous season had seen Brock replaced with Tracey, with Brock returning when it became apparent that people liked Brock and nobody liked Tracey. Perhaps they chickened out of replacing Misty after the negative reaction to Tracey, or perhaps they changed their minds because the female trainer was once again not implemented, reducing the impact of Casey as an marketing tool.

Why couldn't they have combined the Dance episode with this ship? For instance, everyone arrives at Pierre's party and enters into a time warp (caused by some random bullshit like in the one where May's Eevee hatched or some shit) and they all end up in the Grand Hall on the Cussler. There aren't enough life boats for them all, so Ash offers to stay behind. Serena won't go without him. Most of the unnamed boyfriends are stuck as well.
They head to the middle of the ship, where Serena prepares to confess since it's her last chance, however before she gets the chance the ship breaks in two. The stern crashes back into the water with Ash, which Serena begins to sink. Eevee evolves and uses it ribbons like a Vine Whip to get Serena over to the stern. They climb up the the back railing, now the highest point above water. Swanna Girl's boyfriend falls off and into the water, hitting one of the ship's propellers on the way down. While the propeller has been shut off with the engines, he makes an amusing clink noise on impact.
Random Deus Ex Machina bullshit gets them back to the castle. Swanna Girl's boyfriend somehow survived the drop onto solid steel, as well as the remaining multi-somersault plunge into icy water.

There's also the factor that on one side of the ship, it was women and children first, but if there are no women left on deck, then men were allowed to board; on the other side, it was women and children ONLY.
She likely didn't have a "grand hall," either. She most likely had a Grand Staircase and a reception area on D-Deck, like the ship she's so explicitly based on.

The music in that episode would have been a lot better in my opinion, though, if it came from the White Star Line song book. Emporer Waltz, Valse Septembre,The Wedding Dance Waltzand so on all would have made for damn good dance music.

Well, to be fair, it was also super fucking foggy according to the flashback we got... on top of most of the reasons the actual Titanic couldn't see the iceberg appearing to be present, such as a moonless night and flat calm seas (no wave action on the iceberg's base).
The one difference that might have made it easier to see for the Cussler than it was for the Titanic is that Cussler was dealing with a white, snow-covered iceberg, while Titanic had a recently rolled over transparent one. I watched a documentary on Youtube the other day that explained why they couldn't see the iceberg, as well as why Captain Lord didn't come to their aide despite him watching them sink.

Anyway, much of Misty's screentime is wasted on filler anyway. Her grand dream of Water Pokemon Master is barely touched upon, and since getting Togepi and as Ash became more mature through Johto has become less dynamic with her so-called interactions with the group especially Ash, relegated to being the punchline to Brock's recurring gag.
I would say no one should ever feel jealous of her, even Iris, since she actually participates in tournaments and has a rival even if her quest to become a Dragon Master was poorly handled.At least she got to battle two dragon masters, Drayden and Clair.

I have one small ray of hope that Serena won't leave with Yashio in the end.
Pokemon has always been about having fun and having strong bonds with your team. By anime logic, Serena's "just have fun" attitude towards performances should give her a giant advantage because it's in keeping with the franchise's morals.
The thing is, Yashio is telling her to do the opposite of that. Not valuing fun and bonds essentially makes her a villain of sorts.
There can only be two outcomes from this:
1. Serena convinces Yashio that fun things are fun and changes her outlook
2. Serena tells Yashio to fuck off because her bonds and fun are the most important things to her
If Yashio won out over Serena, it would go against the whole theme of Pokemon. I'm pulling for Serena to nope out and keep traveling with Ash.

It's not only about pokemon. Serena in general, is weak and often relies on her pokemon/Ash. Elle is strong and she gives advice to strangers(like in XY064). she doesn't make audience worry, by fucking up and breaking wrist and her smile makes audience happy.

Yes, Tripokalons were introuduced in XY040 and proper competition 20 eps later and that performers need only 3 keys to enter Master Class, I think they made them too short/rushed.

Technically even though May and Dawn had 7 pokemon, a lot of their pokemon got screwed over screentime wise.
With May, her Munchlax didn't do anything till BF, and even then it was only in the battle round of one Contest till the GF. Her Eevee was also extremely late and AG only had 30 episodes left when she got it.
With Dawn, they had her release Ambipom and then gave her a Togekiss only 2 episodes before her Grand Festival. Even her Cyndaquil came so late in DP it didn't get much focus.
