Anyways, try Light Platnium. Two regions, gen four and five mons added and a good length of gameplay.

Not much into rom hacks but my first was Sacred Gold and it was pretty neat. You could start with that maybe. A friend of mine told me Volt White and Blaze Black were good as well.

Just stay away from rom hacks that have their own story like Pokemon Reborn. A lot of them are terrible fanfictions that just come off as edgy.
