Back in first generation, I was 2 pokémon away from having a fully completed dex. Our school had a Spanish exchange student program. We took a lad called Daniel.
On the last day, my parents and my then best friend's parents dropped 3 of the Spanish lads at the airport. The flight got cancelled, so they had to come back. Luckily, one of my friends found that his gameboy and pokémon blue copy had gone missing. When I checked, mine had gone too.
Daniel and his two other friends had stolen and wiped our games. If the flight hadn't been cancelled at the last minute, they would have fucked off with our gameboys. I haven't liked the Spanish or first generation since. Broke my little heart.

I'm worried as I get older and I demand more challenge for my games I will start to resent Pokemon games. It's miles better than what Lugia has. And I know you can hear Ho-Oh's battle theme in SS, but it's not the same when you don't get to see Ho-Oh being summoned and all by the Kimono Girls.

I like all the gens. Not equally of course, there are always preferences. But there's just something magical about going to a pokemon game for me. It brings me back to a simpler time in my life when everything wasn't so complicated.

HG/SS Were mediocre at best aside from the pokethlon and are only revered because they tried to recapture that magical time when we got new pokemon for the first time as a kid (which was pretty nice then). ORAS are only hated because they remade the game everyone probably played in their teen years when they were jaded as fuck and started to hate everything that was new and scary (like gen 3).
All gens are the same, there are bad designs flooding each one, deal with it.
Megas are a fine concept and the fact that some of them were poorly executed doesn't make them bad as a whole. This same argument can be applied to pokemon in general, it's just easier to hate them because they are new.
Legendary does not mean "broken", fuck off with that argument, there is not a bus big enough to run over all the fags that use this argument and honestly believe they are right. Fuck off.
Pokemon did not get edgier and "overdesigned" as time went on....you got older and more jaded, stop being a prick and just enjoy video games like a normal person.
This game will never be balanced competitively, say what you want about smogon (I hate those assholes too) but the sad truth is their shitstain of a meta is the closest thing we'll ever get to balance.
