I doubt we'll get any new evolution now because they need to make all remaining MEGA evolutions first to move on.
One thing which was amazing in 4th gen was new evolution paths to old Pokemon.
Mega Evolution is such garbage concept. We have to wait another generation to finally end this shit. Hope they'll get back to old mechanics.

Mega evolution concept is more beneficial ans safe for GF desu. They can get away with shit tier design by saying "don't worry it's not permanent".
