I'd say the Pokemon designs in gen 6 were a lot simpler than they were in gen 4 and 5. The only difference is that they all have massive heads.

Gens 5 and 6 both had more simple designs than Gen 4.

Overdrawn? I would say the opposite is true. Now a days pokemon are made of very simple shapes that any five year old can draw.
