There was literally no reason for Slowbro to be Water/Psychic. Starmie's ok because it's from outer space, but Slowbro is just a normal Water Pokemon with less Psychic abilities than Golduck and even Psyduck, could have been pure Water or Water/Ice if it had to be a dual-type.
