What are /vp/'s thoughts on Water-types? Too many? Does it need a nerf? What is your favorite Water-type Pokemon?

We need more water Pokemon based on bioluminescence and the deep sea abyss.
>>
>>25698896
Lugia isn't fucking water type you mega retard.
>>25702100
Huntail
>>
>>25702155

Tell that to the TCG m8.
>>
>>25702155
I guess, but I think we should have more abyss mons than just huntail and lanturn
>>
>>25698896
There are far too many. Just because a Pokemon is aquatic or can live in water, doesn't mean it has to be water type. They need to make more aquatic non-water types to combat this, otherwise we will always have a huge amount of water types.

Does it need a nerf? I personally think so. I could see it gaining a weakness to Poison, but I think it'd be better just to have a few more types to resist it (ice, namely).

Water types are the elephant in the room no one's talking about competitive wise. They've been really good in every single generation but no one ever brings them up. They really need another weakness, Grass is a really awkward type to use competitively and there's literally 0 reliable defensive electric to take on water types types outside of Zapdos and maybe RotomW/Lanturn which are both part water type theirself

So why isn't Lugia a water type?

>Lives underwater
>Is a counterpart to Ho Oh, a fire type

???
>>
>>25705374
Balance, probably. If it was a water type it would btfo Ho-oh every time.

Lore-wise I guess you could say that it isn't a water type because it lives underwater by choice and not be necessity because otherwise the surface would be constantly battered by hurricanes. It's kinda like how Darkrai secludes itself to keep everything nearby from having nightmares.

They've always been OP.
-Since most grass types have sucked
-and electric attacks are hardcucked by ground types
-and ice beam being everywhere gave them amazing coverage.
-and most swift users are water,
-and now scald is either the most or second most busted move available.
>>
My fave water type is Starmie because I'm a giant autist that's confused by emotions.
>>
>>25702467
They could be based on creatures that live underwater but don't actively swim
Ground/Bug Bobbit Worm
Poison Sea Urchin
Fire/Bug Tube Worms
Ice/Bug Yeti Crab
Would be some neat aquatic non-water types
>>
>>25702346
I know, I just mentioned it to remind you. A Pokemon based on angler, eel or another squid would be rad.
>>25702262
Yeah but it's still an incorrect use for a thread. Omega retard.
>>
>>25709178
>Eel
Huntail
>Angler
Lanturn
>>
>>25709178
Inkay line, Clamperl family, Tynamo line, Chinchou line, Finneon line, Shellos line, Relicanth, etc
>>
Freeze-dry should be available to all ice types since all non-ice water types get Scald.
>>
>>25702467
Stuff like Dragalge has non-water typing at least
>>
>>25705064
It's because they've always been good but not the best, apart from maybe in Gen 5 where they might have been the best. Complaing about dragons, steel and fairy takes priority.

Such is the life of the water jew.

I have same.

Scald is pretty busted, Water types being able to burn more reliably than most fire types is pretty aggravating.
I'm a grassfag, so I wish water was weak to poison and maybe a little less Ice Beam distribution. Water being able to take out the type designed to counter it doesn't make a lot of sense design wise.

Overall great type though, Azumarill has been my bro for ages.
>>
Water types are pretty boring because they all share the same strategies and moves. They're usually slow and bulky. They're kind of like normal type of specials.

Delta species gimmick isn't it
