Competitive isn't that much fun when you get haxed/your opponent gets rewarded despite you making the more optimal plays.
The only time I have fun nowadays is when I get matched against stall since it's a great stress relief to push their shit in.

I don't play competitively. I did for a while in gen 4 locally, but I won everything because most of the local scene was just into it for fun and couldn't comprehend evs and ivs so I stopped going to tiurnaments and stuff and jus stuck to online play.
Also there's a lot more adults in the competitive scene and a lot of the fun for me was letting little kids have min maxed meta gross and miliotics to shit all over whatever got thrown their way.
