I once ran into a shiny poochyena in Emerald at the very beginning of the game, so I hadn't gotten any pokeballs yet. A couple days ago I was replaying Emerald and I got a shiny marill though, so I guess that sort of makes up for it.

...no? It's 1/4096 in gen VI, which is double what is used to be but still stupidly rare. Even if you're using Shiny Charm + Masuda it's still only 1/512

I did find a shiny sewaddle in white so I gues that makes up for it being the same typen and all.
First shiny was a Pidgey in Crystal, I still have it too. Bred a shiny Pidgey in Alpha Sapphire so he can live on in a way

I was 11, I was ignorant, and I didn't know what shinies were, but I still tried to catch it.
It blew up.
But I didn't care. Looking back on it, I don't feel bothered by it at all. Strange.

Replaying through Heartgold right now, was on route 33, thinking about how my friend in all her years has never seen a shiny in her life. Then the first Pokemon I encounter in the grass is a shiny spearow. Added to the team instantly.
It's not the prettiest color scheme I agree but something about it makes me nostalgia. Maybe it's because it looks washed out, reminding me of the older games' sprites.
I found a shiny Graveler myself in Y a few months ago while looking for a Torkoal for a friend. Caught it in a Quick Ball.
I've been playing since the day Gen II came out in the US, and I still haven't encountered a shiny without using RNG abuse

I've gotten all my shinies in gen 6 by casually playing the games. I also caught a shiny oddish while playing an emerald rom but I don't count that.
