Depends on the Pokemon, Spiritomb for instance looks straight up like dogshit in a 3D model.

Nope, and they should have done the full transition to 3D long ago in BW.
3D models are okay in general. Some of them need some polish though, but in general they're okay. They need to increase a bit the textures resolution, because you can actually distinguish pixels in Amie when petting some Pokemon.

I miss them just because the XY models have awful animations, a static sprite is better than a near-static model. If we had something closer to Stadium in animation quality then I might not long for sprites as much.

If they're good they're good.
The models look worse than good sprites.
