Heracross and Blastoise both got new moves that work well for their abilities when they Mega evolve. Heracross got Pin Missile and Arm Thrust because Mega Heracross has Skill Link. Blastoise got Dark Pulse and Dragon Pulse because Mega Blastoise has Mega Launcher.
They don't get these moves only when they Mega Evolve, but they ended up getting them because it fit their Mega Evolutions.

They got new moves in XY specifically to make their Megas useful.
Blastoise got a bunch of Pulse moves to work with Mega Launcher and Heracross got three moves to make Skill Link useful.
So yeah if Meganium or any other gets a new ability of that kind, you could expect new moves to go with it.
An ability that restores 1/3 of its replacement's HP when it switches out.

The fact theyre monotyped is what fucks them. They need dual types. Monotypes should literally kill themselves. You know how many fucking single typed Pokémon of each type there are? Too many and they all have to compete with each other.
