I'm not one to fight gen wars, but I have to admit while I have every gym leader from gens 1 to 3 memorized, I have strain to remember gen 4 and can barely remember 5 or 6. I could probably name them if shown a picture but if I had to come up with all of them and what order they're in, I'd definitely mess it up.

That could be less an issue of the gym leaders being forgettable (at least in gen IV and V's case) and more the fact that you might not have invested as much time in those gens or rushed through them? Gen V in particular spent the most amount of time actually characterizing their gym leaders by giving them shit to do outside of being a gym leader, and gen IV had them visit your mansion and hang out with each other. Hell, Kanto and Johto's gym leaders were completely irrelevant until HGSS also let them hang out with each outside of their gyms and had you look for them for rematches. I'll give you Kalos though

Well, in that case, I can kind of understand why you'd forget them, but I always loved the Unova gym leaders for their personalities. It seems strange to call them forgettable when they are by far the best-characterized gym leaders in the entire franchise (barring Giovanni and Blue)
