is there a way to always practice in duel phase? I go in free practice but the change of phases always throw me off, so many time wasted that could help me practice some combos on Braixen

So why do some characters have the ability to act into their Burst while mid combo? I was playing a Pikachu and had them against the wall while they were glowing but in the middle of a hit, they just KO me with their ultra. I don't get it. I should have won that one.

Gengar is a staple of the series. The original intro to the games has Gengar fighting Nidorino, and he's far and above the communities favorite ghost pokemon. Pikachu and Gengar's inclusion made sense.
Pikalibre did not but I won't get into that.
Also, fifth gen is fucking shit, especially the fighters. Sawk and Throh are boring and look like muppets. Don't even get me started on Conkeldur and how he looks like a giant fucking veiny penis.
Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan should have been included in the game before anyone else, but that didn't happen.

I wanted more than 14 pokemon to be playable in this game. You can act as if I'm in a minority, but you'll see people discussing the roster constantly for years to come, mark my words. Many many people every single day come to /v/ and /vp/ and talk about why X or Y are not in the game, why there are people in this very thread who did that. Sure, my specific favorite pokemon are not of any major importance. But the roster of playable pokemon is probably this game's biggest selling point. As I said, this is a fan service game and always will be. If this game featured people fighting and not pokemon, most of the people in this thread would not give a fuck about it.
I'm upset about some of the support pokemon, they would've made great actual fighters.
So uh, the AI cheats right? No way I would be able to do moves so quickly in succession, or so powerfully, or with that much reach. A Chandelure just melee'd me from all the way on the other side of the arena.

I've experienced this too. The AI seems to be able to do whatever it likes while being combo'd, but should you ever be combo'd, you can't do shit. It's rigged. I've had AI burst, shield, counter in the middle of a combo I was doing on them, but I can't do the same.

It depends. That's just how you zone people. If they're getting too close, I'll charge Will-o-Wisp and do that spin move to get away. Sometimes I'll psych them out after a few patterns of that and spin into them. If they're closing in and are about to hit me, I'll Overheat them or call on Fennekin.
I feel like Chandelure should be more of a technical monster, but her damage is ridiculous so I can see why she's in power.

Jumping while mantaining the charge required me to place two fingers on the buttons, and that one combo in particular was very time strict

Charging a move can be a bitch when doing follow-up combos. I struggle with the timing on them. Charge and then Release A means: Press and hold A, then release. You will see a glow over your Pokemon when charging is complete, it takes about a second.
