They were referring to Psyduck
Golduck isn't named for "Gold", it's just "Gol", whatever that is. They slapped the same Gol prefix on Golbat, idk what they were onto with these in the first gen.

The "Gol" in Golbat is either refered to "ghoul" or "gore".

Pretty sure they ducked up and meant to have Psyduck and Golduck be part Psychic instead of Slowpoke and Slowbro (with Slowking being Psychic still).
