I had a thread about my Pokémon Shiny Gold playthrough, I tried saving the game and it gave me a blue screen saying "Save failed. Checking backup memory. Please wait. Time required: 1 minute."
I had to turn it off, then it deleted my save file.
Why do bootleg cartridges always do this? Is there any actual reason? None of the bootlegs I've had ever save my game.

If you're going that route, why are you bothering a cart someone else made? Go full pirate and emul8, or grab a flashcart, faggot.
Or, I dunno, GET THE OFFICIAL RELEASE AND STOP WHINING.

The save was probably stored on a battery and that battery just died. Bootlegs are also notorious for having terrible build quality leading to bugs out the wazoo.

Your game might have ended at Olivine City anyway since a lot of carts have an earlier beta. The latest 2009 release goes all the way up to Fuschia.
