It's because teleporting is a risky process. Some pokemon mutate when they get teleported (i.e. traded via link cable). It's the same reason why Bill's teleporter turned him into a Pokemon.
It is literally the power of friendship. Having two trainer/friends make some pokemon stronger
Oh thank goodness. I thought it was horrible physical mutation brought on by electronic manipulation of a pokemon's DNA while in a digital state, but it's just good old emotional trauma
