To be fair, my DSi ended up being more durable than my DS lite, as the last one got a broken hinge when I dropped it as a kid.
Although my DSi was blue and the paint in the corners would kind of peel by scratches. Other than that, it's still okay.

One is a console which removed backwards compatibility in favor of shitty gimmicks nobody used, which got included in the next console anyways, including backwards compatibility.
The other is a console which only improved upon its predecessor adding a lot of things and the only thing it removed was the need for idiotic pheriperals.
The only good thing the DSi improved over the DSL was the build quality, but even it's far worse than that of the 3DS.

This. N3DS is actually a worthwhile upgrade over the 3DS to someone who doesn't mind spending their money for the best possible handheld gaming experience, whereas the DSi was a downgrade in almost every way.
DSi pros:

DSi cons:

The design flaw doesn't seem to be totally removed. I've had my R/B edition New 3DS for about 3 weeks now and it's got a few little spots on the top screen right at the corners of the bottom screen surround. My pants aren't tight at all, they have very loose pockets.

What you're describing sounds impossible. I've has the AC:HHD N3DS since it launched and haven't had that problem. If you look at the nubs in pic related, they are intended to prevent the exact thing from happening. Can you possibly post a pic?

Trace your finger up from the bottom screen vertical surrounding plastic. You should see some tiny scratches on the screen in line with it. You might need to zoom in.

Man, I feel dumb now.
I don't really feel too bad about shelling out the money though. Having the big screen for HGSS was pretty clutch, and it gave me another device to transfer from older games with. I even had a gamestop discount at the time and disposable income since it was before marriage.
