Mega Evolutions won't be a thing in Gen VII. Game Freak has an undeniable track record of bait, switch, and cuck. Megas are glorified Forme changes. And they've never, ever removed any of those, save for dumb shit like Spiky-Eared Pichu. There isn't even a legitimate way to obtain Summer/Fall/Winter Deerling/Sawsbuck in XY/ORAS other than by transfer from Gen V, but all 4 forms are still there.
