Gamefeak has historically dropped features people like in almost every generation, it's hard to stay optimistic about all the good features of the current gen returning.

Why would Sylveon have anything to do with Amie staying? They got rid of pokéblocks in gen 4 and added the Prism scale for Feebas to evolve instead. They could come up with some kind of item for Eevee to evolve into Sylveon too. As for the benefits of Amie, who really uses it for the extra experience boost or the chance of surviving a hit that would KO you? It's so unnecessary and forgettable I completely forgot about affection even doing that until I read this thread
