Marill was, too. They picked two very great Pokemon to introduce the next Gen with. Togepi was definitely interesting, also. It felt like the series was constantly progressing with new developments, which was neat.
Now we get shitty mons like Mageana to introduce new gens. Although I thought Lucario and Zoroark were great reveals.
Donphan is easily one of my favourite 'mon.
