Amaura and Aurorus are objectively great pokemon.
So, let's be clear.
Amara and Aurorus had awful typing and are unusable because of that.
But as far as design goes, they are fucking top tier. Aurorus is fucking gorgeous.
It's just so badly typed that it was a struggle to keep mine alive for more than one battle while playing through the fucking story.

I wonder who decides the stat distribution for a Pokémon because the average viability of each of these Pokemon varies wildly.
At the very least I know Sugimori has to be telling people what stats he wants for his Pokemon because it can't be coincidence that Gengar, Lucario and Blaziken are currently some of the best Pokémon in the game.

I'd assume the designers of the pokemon have input on its typing and stats as well and that is just garbage. I'm not a smogon fag but I'm sick of gamefreak making all these cool looking icetypes and then making them "le bulky defensive" with their one resistance and 4 weaknesses.
