Because ORAS wasn't going to have any similar to in XY but GF remembered at the last second that it still had a blank spot so they quickly drew up Audino and gave it shitty stats.
We'll probably see more Megas a couple generations from now when it begins to hit nostalgia territory and people who were kids when it came out get older.

I like Gen 5 but you guys are pants on head tarded. Yes, a lot of Gen 5 mons were affected by Gen 6's powercreep, but don't forget that 4 and 5 also affected previous Gens the same way.
Gen 5 especially is far and away the gen that needs it the most, having introduced the most min-maxed/superior stat spread pokedex to date

I think Mega Audino is a preview for Unova Megas. You could say Mega Diancie is a preview for Unova Megas and Mega Gallade is the same for Sinnoh Cross Evo Megas.
GF intentionally capped the mega amount at 50 to save some megas for future games. I expect Unova megas, Kalos megas, Sinnoh cross evo megas, and Kanto's mega total to catch up to Hoenn's.

There's maybe 10 megas I actually like, the rest have so much jargon in their designs it's hard to even believe a professional artist made them
That, and they throw them on Pokemon that either A) were already fine or
B) needed a normal evolution
Then they focused almost the entire plots of two whole fucking games on it, including ORAS.
