Love 'em, to be honest. The Zen form I could take or leave (would probably just leave) but Hot Daruma Ape is cool by me. One of my favorite Gen 5 monsters for sure.

Pretty much my favorite pokemon, period. A clean, kickass design with a lot of charm, and unlike almost every single other one of my favorites, it's not a shitmon.
Sheer Force Flare Blitz annihilates all that don't resist it, and even then, unless they're bulky it'll still punch some holes. Lame bulk, but enough speed to let it get in and get out. Not fucking abusrd, either, like M-Kanga or M-Salamence or whatever, so it actually takes a bit of thought to use or else you'll kill yourself with recoil or get annihilated from a poorly thought-out switch-in. Easy to get revenge-killed, too, unless you're Scarfed and even then, it depends. Darmanitan's also pretty predictable, but it's the best at what it does, and what it does isn't very nice.
I've got two fully trained ones, one for Singles (Scarf) and one for Doubles (Belly Drummer). If the latter sets up (usually alongside a Tailwind Togekiss with Follow Me, Encore, and Air Slash) then he is going to absolute town on whatever's on the other side of the field.
It's a fucking monster in Conquest. Slap a Guardian charm on it and the 'rape ape' meme becomes all too real. It's also one of my favorite 5th gen mons and was a real powerhouse on my BW team.

I love Darmanitan. Everyone loves Darmanitan. If you don't like Darmanitan you're a fucking square.
I just wish Zen Mode was executed in a way that, y'know, worked. Cuz basically everyone loves regular Darmanitan and just pretends his other form doesn't exist.

SO MANY terrible decisions in the last two generations could have been solved with branch evolutions. They're the ultimate saving grace for a line.
Like, can you imagine if Sligoo got a Bug/Dragon branch evo? Or if Spritzee got a male-only plague doctor split evo? Literally the most hopeless mons in history could still be salvaged, but I'm worried that they've abandoned branch evolutions forever.

In an age when people complain about Pokémon being 'overdesigned,' it's a good throwback with its simplistic yet unique design.
Plus I just love physical powerhouses. Just wish Zen Mode was executed better because it's a pretty neat concept.
Its design is goofy but threatening and obviously it has ridiculous power.
My favourite Fire type apart from Chandelure.
