It says the bulb grows with Bulbasaur, so if removed I'm assuming Bulbasaur would be fine albeit probably being unable to use some of its abilities like Vine Whip.

What type would Bulba and co be without the symbiotic plant? Pure Poison? Or is the plant poisonous in and of itself?
Dex says Bulbasaur is born without bulb and it's mother plants a seed on it's back (I assume it's the seed on female Venusaur's flower), so it's probably possible for it to survive without it, but it would be very difficult since Bulbasaur's attacks depend on it.
