What were your bros from Platinum, /vp/?
I'm playing through it again to have a good time and I'm having a hard time rounding out my team. So far I've got a Grotle, a Staravia, and a Gible. There doesn't seem to be any good special attackers in the wild to catch, I was thinking I'd just turn this Eevee into a Glacion or something. Who do you play with?

Play a Platinum hack instead. Vanilla pokemon games are a no go the earlier you get gen-wise. Variety didn't start getting acceptable since gen 5-6

Right well that doesn't really work for me.
Is there really no good special attacker until the 7th or 8th gym? And I'm not sure that I want to keep this Gible either because that makes two Pokemon with a x4 ice weakness.

Lucario is an option (as a special attacker), and Gengar is super in that. In a few of my platinum playthroughs I would teach a Gyarados earthquake then breed it onto a Gible, so boom, 2 earthquake users.

Glaceon or Vaporeon aren't bad choices. Have you considered Houndour/Houndoom?

Lucario would be nice, I guess. And it gives me a good ice counter. And Haunter is really my only option in this game, so no Gengar.
