Eh, since it has been stated that he trains his mons in off screen land plus the times it has been in a battle it has shown to be able to hold its own. And pokemon in the anime evolves when they need to, like Talonflame, Greninja and Noivern. Plus DEM EVOLUTION POWERS will always be there. I see where you're going but it's hardly as big of a problem as you make it out to be. Zapdos didn't hit it and it got hit by an extremely powerful move after getting hit by Hawlucha and TR. It makes sense.

Noivern literally just evolved and beat Zapdos. That's inconsistent given how strong legendaries are shown to be in the anime. Charizard was easily Ash's strongest pokémon when he fought Articuno and he did a ton of preparation for that battle.

Yea, but Charizard tanked a lot of hits and Ash simply relied on pure strenght from Charizard to win and very little strategy. Plus Ash did a tone of fuck ups like missing overheat.
Ash actually used strategy against Zapdos and used Noivern's speed and sonar in the rocky landscape to confuse Zapdos and hit it while it wasn't prepared. And 140bp is still going to hurt. Noivern would probably not be able to tank hits like Charizard did against Articuno and would get btfo just like Hawlucha and Talonflame.
That the difference. Charizard is stronger and can actually tank hits, Noivern can't but it doesn't matter if Zapdos can't aim in on it for shit.
