You could definitely argue that Sylveon broke the trend, although Fairy arguably leans closer to Special than Physical.

Honestly the only problem I ultimately have with Sylveon is the eyes. It's completely different than all the over Eeveelutions, and lacking in any layers: just a slab of pale blue-ish whatever over top, no pupils, no nothin. just soulless

Up until the third gen moves were either physical or special. There were 9 physical types and 8 special types. It's logical to think fairy would have been special. So that left us with 8/9 types on the special syde with eevees and 0/9 on the physical.
Said that I would like to see a fighting type eeveelution.

You know, looking at them all in OP's picture makes me realize they all have very little layers/complexity to the eyes, but the big difference is the shade. The pale blue washes out the white "pupil," which totally kills it for me.

We had shitton of dragon in 6 gen (new mons and megas), Poison surely needs more love

I'm working on the localization team for Pokemon Sun and Moon. The new Eeveelution will be Steel, the second will be dual type (Dark/Dragon). Can't tell you the names yet, as we've not yet decided on a final name, and anything I say here could give away my identity.
Also, the leak earlier which said Blue was in the game was dead wrong on everything but this. Blue is in the game, but he's not a villain, he's a supporting character (along with a couple of other gym leaders).

I want dragon or fighting more than anything. I don't even particularly love eevee, but I always get interested in the next form coming. I do like eevee in that sense. A Pokemon from 20 years ago that's still got me wondering what it's going to do next.

Why not? Dark was Special despite all of its pre-gen 4 moves becoming Physical. Ghost was Physical despite the inherent magical/supernatural quality the type has.
