Sure, it can 2HKO most of the tier, but it's slow and has shit defenses. It's just a big wallbreaker. Kyurem-B and Mega Medicham are better most of the time, actually. Both have fewer switch ins, and Meicham even gets Fake Out for (kinda crappy) priority.

But I like Talonflame! It has more than one set so you can fit it on a variety of teams, but since it has almost no coverage it's mostly easy to predict. It has plenty of counters, like Tyranitar, Rotom, and Landorus that are all easy to fit onto a team, Stealth Rock rapes it, and it stops stuff like Pinsir, Keldeo and Lopunny, or if you're running a Will-o-Wisp set, it can stop Scizor and a lot of other stuff too. Taunt set is one of my favorite answers to fucking Clefable. Talonflame keeps the other insane stuff in check while having reasonable counters itself. If you ban Talonflame you're asking for trouble.

BS has been static outside of going on and off about Pentagon and there's lots of variety in each format. I think it also wastes the fact that most Asian players (ofc particularly Japan) play on cartridge, so you're really only testing your abilities against a really small subset of the playerbase.
