There really wasn't considering how many reveals we got for Gen 5 compared to the 70 Pokemon total we could've gotten from XY. At most we got mad about Greninja, Hawlucha, and Goomy.
Comparably we made a ton of names for every single Japanese Pokemon we barely knew like Smugleaf, Tarantesla, Jellybro, etc. We got to guess at cross gen evolutions like Emolga and Alamosa since they were revealed early.
Gen 6 just had a lot of gameplay things that we couldn't really speculate on, because it was all out in the open in English and Japanese at the same time. All we discussed was fairy type until they revealed it.

They came out of the gate guns blazing for marketing with that one though. Announced alongside a long trailer that showed a ton of shit, and every month they put up new videos on YouTube that kept everyone hyped. Unlike past gens, where they'll show a new Pokemon and then info slowly trickles out through CoroCoro and the other channels.
And then they were shit.
No because I doubt even 10% of the population that were in /vp/ back when they are announced are even here anymore.
