The reason you use the youngster's Slowpoke is because it has a Special of 21. Mew's index number is 21. Read about it on bulbapedia or glitch city

I've been using it to get all the unobtainable Pokemon (the other starters, the other fossil, the other Hitmon, the trade evolutions, the other Eeveelutions and the Red exclusives). I caught all the other Pokemon legitimately, although I eventually got pissed off with the Safari Zone so I caught the four rare Safari Zone Pokemon with this glitch too. The only Pokemon I need now are Mewtwo (which I'm saving for last) and Kangaskhan (you can't use this glitch for Kangaskhan because its index value is too low).

Been doing everything you can in a blue version rom. Trying to follow the steps of some guys speedrun for it that will get you to the hall of fame with no badges.
When transferring pokemon to bank and new gens they'll have to keep some junk data out, but do you think they'll filter out stuff like movesets? At the very least you'll be able to get any gen1 pokemon with any gen1 move in sun/moon. Spore electrode when.
