How about we get some customization right when we choose our gender, and I mean more than skin tone and hair. Hair style and clothing style would be top choice
If there is no customization, they I won't even bother with them. Got bored with ORAS and didn't even bother with it after a few days when there was nothing going for it.

This. I much rather they forget customization forever and take that time to make a BF or a PWT or something like that.
They could not make most of the male clothes JUST-tier. There were so many clothes with the ugliest possible color combinations, I'm sure they were doing it on purpose. I basically had one outfit I always wore, when I tried something different I changed back within 10 minutes every time.
I loved customization, but interviews have already shown that it was a Kalos only feature. After Kalos, we will only ever see it again if they get remakes.
And while that is sad, I am okay with it. The time that goes into making outfits for the player models, and setting up stores across the region for buying the,/graphics for trying everything on and everything that comes with customization, I'm fine with them not spending resources on that, because I foolishly hope the time they would have put into that goes into other aspects of the game.
Much the same way that for me, following pokemon will always be my favorite feature, but it not coming back does not affect my willingness to buy or play the games.
Do I want to change my character's appearance and have my best pokemon bro/sis following along behind me as I explore a new region? Hell yes I do. I'd love it. But I do not get my hopes up for it happening because it is unlikely to. And I'm not upset at its exclusion, just disappointed.
Whatever the time and effort goes into instead will likely be just as cool and interesting a feature, and I look forward to seeing the next unique region feature.

Long story short: Game Freak likes making certain features a thing for certain regions only because it makes them 'special'.
Granted, this was back in 2014, so things COULD change, but I wouldn't bet on it.
In X&Y the customization left me wanting to be able to create a character based off myself.

When I play pokemon it reminds me of myself as a kid playing the games, so the fact that the character is a kid is a kind of self insert thing to me.

Pokemon amie is a pretty isolated feature desu. The same models and animations are used so there's little reason not to include it. When there's a new hero/heroine the clothes need to be changed since the models and animations are different.
