They had one of the more absurd goals, they announced genocide and literally nobody but the main character group cared, the boss was the only slightly memorable character, lots of wasted potential (could have gotten the professor more involved with the plot, could have explored the E4 member that was a member plotline).

What was the point of making 4 different Female Scientist/Admins if they don't have distinct or memorable personalities?
Why wasn't Malva involved in the main plot at all? We only found out she was a member after Lysandre's defeat. Seems kind of a waste to have an E4 member be part of a villain group and do nothing with it.

Killing everyone to maintain beauty makes literally no sense. Lysandre made a brief reference to a goal that would make sense when he's talking to Diantha...

If Flare's goal had been to stop time, their ideal of beauty would've made sense, as it would be an act of trying to PRESERVE the world before it gets worse.

Who are they?
Haven't played X's story since it was released (beat it same day), but the gist I got was "Only Team Flare is beautiful and everything else should perish" or something like that. There's literally nothing to empathize with and they just act as very generic villains of the gen.

It wasn't literal beauty. Lysandre says that the world is becoming "uglier" because there are more and more people and less and less resources. The more people, the more they will start stealing, hurting each other, misunderstanding one another, abusing Pokemon, etc.
His idea was to kill everyone, not to preserve literal beauty but to come back to a more unified/simple world.
