There's emotion and movement that is hard to express with 3D
Early Stadium games had it down for the most part. And even in Colosseum and Gale of Darkness.
But now? Lifeless.
Look at Sableye, that fucker used to twitch around non stop uncontrollably, now he sorta just make movements that Drowzee should be making.

I played pokemon colosseum for a little while and i felt the combats were more longer than the normal battles, even if it was doubles, because those animations.
I prefer the lifeless models from XY/Oras for now.
