We usually try to get one Pokemon per type. A number of different sketches are made for certain types, then voted on internally. After that its fine tuning until we get the design we all mostly agree on. Also no, not that much autism, though some employees are focused on details.

You'd be surprised the emails we got. Many complained about acquiring the Gen 1 starters. Felt it was pointless to be able to get not one but two starting Pokemon. There were also many who felt the formula didn't change enough. Character customization was praised though.

my main issue with XY was the wasted potential. Both the region and story COULD have been genuinely amazing, and ALMOST were, but just... weren't. And it left me feeling underwhelmed and unsatisfied.
