GF said they didn't want to be predictable, and Z was probably the most obvious game that everyone and their mother was expecting, more so than previous examples like Grey, so why the fuck would they make Pokemon Z?
I understand if people want the "fixed" kalos game, the gen 6.5, improved version of X/Y, or whatever, but that can still happen under any other name, it doesn't have to be called Z.

Because even if Z isn't happening, it would still be a waste to just ignore a marketable legendary like Zygarde. So they came up with all of the anime and side merch Z stuff to make some extra shekels before moving on to Sun and Moon.
